Grab your partner and enjoy riding Florida from West Palm to the Treasure Coast and back to the Gold Coast. Cruise up Hutchinson Island stopping at some little known way points for a snack or beverage before turning West and then back South to Tequesta. Along the way you’ll pick up playing cards that could add up to great prizes. So whether your passion is discovering little known hide-a-ways, posting snapshots from the road or just watching the road roll by this is an opportunity for a day of fun and prizes while supporting a great cause.
The Riding for Ali 2012 Poker Run Fundraiser is intended to be a 110-mile (+/-) motorcycle riding event combining the fundraising potential of a sponsored ride with the fun and spontaneity of a poker run. Volunteer riders register for the event and then persuade community businesses and individuals to sponsor their efforts by the mile ($.25, $.50, $1.00 or any other amount per mile). There will be seven stops programmed into the ride, including the Start and Stop points where participants will pick up a Playing Card. At the conclusion of the riding portion of the event there will be prizes awarded for the Best 5 of 7 Poker hand, the Worst 5 of 7 Poker hand and the most money raised for the Charity. There will be one additional prize awarded.
The cost to register as a rider is $20.00 plus $10.00 for each additional playing hand.
The event is planned for the 11th of November 2012 with a Rain Date of 18 November.
Riders will leave the Starting point at 30 sec intervals starting at 9:00 am and will have complete control over the route they travel. The event will end at Wylder’s Waterfront Bar & Grill in Tequesta to much fanfare, music, food and prizes.
There will be no Road Captains so we strongly recommend that riders not gather in large groups while riding. The event organizers will recommend a route that is scenic in nature but participants need only gather seven cards, one from each of the programmed stops, to be eligible for prizes.
